The balance of power in the MMA scene has radically shifted now we know that UFC's Lorenzo Fertitta is officially in charge of Pride FC.
Could this explain the apparent emergency summit that appears to be underway in Los Angeles, USA?
Representatives from Showtime, Elite XC, BodogFight and Cage Rage have all gathered for a power meeting and press conference hosted by K-1.
The rumour is that the above mentioned organisations will be working hand in hand to combat the UFC’s relentless march towards total world domination of the Mixed Martial Arts scene.
Showtime are former record holders for the biggest live attendance at a North American Mixed Martial Arts event. Former boxing promoters Elite XC have a sexy Ten Million Dollar Mainstream TV deal. BodogFight are rumoured to be the new long term employers of the Emelianenko Brothers. Cage Rage have established themselves as the leading promotion in Europe and host genuine world class cards. If these powers were to combine, there could still be a viable alternative to the Zuffa Conglomerate.
Furthermore, the hottest rumour doing the rounds today is that K-1 have tabled a £10,000,000 GBP ($19,647,998.90 USD) offer to buy Cage Rage outright. If this is true, it would give K-1 a pre-made foothold in the UK market, from which they could take over from Cage Rage before the inevitable fire fight over UK turf begins with the UFC.
