Ever since the UFC came to stay in England, Cage Rage has been faced with loosing their best UK fighters to the bigger organisation.
However, in a bold move Cage Rage have snapped up two fighters linked with the UFC.
Mohammed was originally scheduled to be part of UFC 70: Nations Collide but has chosen to fight for Cage Rage instead because he wants to honour his long standing commitments.
Pointon x Abdul will prove to be an interesting match-up. Pointon, a former Heavyweight, will be fighting at -77kg. Abdul, the Cage Rage Lightweight Champion will be going up in weight to take the fight.
Stylistically it’s a cool match up. Abdul is an unstoppable wrestling machine with awesome Ground n Pound, while a leaner and sharpened Pointon will bring his “leave it all in the cage” brawler mentality.
For those of you unaware, Cage Rage 21 and UFC 70 are being staged on the same day in the same country. Although officially the mood between the two organisations is cordial, it is just a question of time until the fractures start appearing.
When asked recently about if the UFC and Cage Rage can co-exist, Dana White basically said that if Cage Rage ‘stay in their place’ then the UFC will leave them alone.
With their gargantuan fight card, it doesn’t look like Cage Rage will be lying down for the UFC.
