K-1 Will Battle UFC in Vegas

It seems that the UFC’s rampant success in North America has spurred more than Pride Fighting Championships to set up shop in the USA. Pride’s main rival for the Japanese market, K-1, is set to follow them across the Pacific and set up in Sin City.

K-1’s MMA branch, Hero’s, are expected to arrive in Las Vegas on 19th May and will bring with them their distinctive cast, headed by WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar and father of modern Mixed Martial Arts, Royce Gracie.

K-1’s power player Tanigawa said:

“At this time, we are fighting the UFC with a bamboo switch, but in the future we will put our knowledge to practice and the bamboo will turn into a samurai sword. The goal is to carry out four pay-per-view events per year and put an end to the UFC's moment of glory,"
