The Grapevine: Pride is about to be bought!

It is rumoured that the President of Pride USA is about to take the struggling business off of his Japanese partners’ hands. Ed Fishman, who is a major investor in the American side of Pride’s bussiness, is rumoured close to finalising a deal that would see him in overall control of the company. Fishman is a big money mogul from the gaming industry and until now only his money talked but if the deal does indeed go through he will be the main man at the top of Pride’s tree. In the new role, Fishman would be in charge of directing the organisation’s quest for global domination and pulling it out of the dramatic spiral that it has found itself in since early 2006. If this is true it will certainly relieve a great weight from the shoulders at Japanese H.Q. But would it rip the soul out of the world’s greatest MMA event if it found itself suddenly in the control of a Vegas fat cat? Interestingly the same credible source that provided this information also said that the Ultimate Fighting Championship made an official offer to buy Pride, but were turned down. |
