IFL Fighter’s Controversial Suspension

According to several American media sources Reno Lion’s representative Joe Martin has been suspended by the California State Athletic Commission following The International Fight League: Tiger Sharks vs Condors.

Joe Martin got dropped by a big right in the second round. A dazed and confused Martin tried to drag his opponent to the ground but was met by a salvo of punches to the back of his head.

The referee stepped in to finish the fight right there and awarded a TKO win to his opponent Clint Coronel.

Martin immediately jumped to his feet, and got in the face of the referee letting him know in no uncertain terms that he was not happy with the decision. The Lion’s corner joined the hot tempered debate, but the referee’s decision stood.

The watching California State Athletic Commission deemed Joe Martin’s behaviour as unsportsmanlike and have reportedly banned him from MMA competition for an unspecified amount of time.
