The Grapevine: Monson to CW, Lindland to Fight Fedor

Due to rescheduling of the finale of Bodog Fight: St Petersburg, it seems that UFC 65: Bad Intentions Heavyweight Championship Contender, Jeff Monson may no longer be facing Pride Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko.
There is now some serious weight to the rumours that Jeff Monson will be defending his Cage Warriors Heavyweight Championship belt at Cage Warriors: Showdown 3 on March 4th, his opponent tipped to be UFC 63 fighter Mario "Sucata" Netto. Series two of BodogFight, which will be shot in St Petersberg, will begin on February 6th and culminate on April 6th. It is not clear yet if Monson will still fight the Pride Heavyweight Champion but further rumours suggest that Fedor may be faced with a new opponent, none other than Matt "The Law" Lindland. When asked for comment, Lindland said that he could probably just about scrape in as a Heavyweight but didn’t confirm or deny that he was being lined up to fight Fedor. |
