Sakakibara Squashes “UFC Buys Pride” Rumours

The hottest topic on MMA message boards over the past few days has been “I heard from a reliable insider source that the Zuffa has bought out Pride FC. Apparently the deal has already been done.” In response to these rumours Pride’s President Nobuyuki Sakakibara has come out and told it like it is…. Sakakibara revealed that Pride and the UFC actually have a closer relationship than you might think for two rival companies. According to Sakakibara, he and the Fertitta brothers have had a close friendly relationship since they bought out the UFC in January 2001. In fact these rumours may have stemmed from a meeting the two MMA giants could have been having regarding a future closer collusion. “We’re just trying to come up with the idea on how we can make this sport grow.” said Sakakibara. |
