St Pierre out of UFC 67

The UFC has announced that welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre is being forced to drop out of his scheduled February 3rd pay per view title defense against The Ultimate Fighter 4 (TUF4) welterweight winner, Matt Serra. Apparently St. Pierre suffered a knee injury while training for his UFC 67 fight with Serra.
St. Pierre won the UFC welterweight title at UFC 65 on November 18th by scoring a second round TKO win over former champion Matt Hughes. Matt Serra earned a welterweight title shot by winning a split decision over fellow TUF4 finalist, Chris Lytle on November 11th on the season finale. Thus far, the rest of the February 3rd card, including Anderson Silva's middleweight title defense against TUF 4 middleweight winner Travis Lutter, and the UFC debuts of former pride fighters, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic, is being reported as still intact. |
