The Price of Failing NSAC Tests

Several high level MMA competitors have failed the Nevada State Athletic Commission tests for banned drugs in 2006.

Most notably these have been Kimo Leopaldo (WFA: King of the Streets), Vitor Belfort (Pride 32), Pawel Nastula (Pride 32), Kevin Randleman (Pride 32) and Stephan Bonnar (UFC 62).

When Stephan Bonnar tested positive for a banned substance after his rematch with Forrest Griffin last August an NSAC panel had to deliberate over what his punishment should be.

Yesterday the Nevada State Athletic Commission ruled that Bonnar should be suspended from Mixed Martial Arts competition for nine months, as of last August, and was also fined $5,000.

Kimo, Belfort, Nastula and Randleman all still await NSAC judgement.
