Paulo Filho Explains Bushido G.P. Drop Out

Pride Bushido 2006 G.P. semi finalist, Paulo Filho, has explained his reasons for not making the finals of the tournament on Sunday.

During his semi-final fight Filho felt a searing pain in his knee and heard a crack when he tried to transition from half guard, before he submitted Kazuo Misaki with an arm-bar at 9 minutes 43 seconds of round one.

After the fight Filhio had his knee examined by his physio, who told him that if he went on to fight again that night he would be risking serious damage to his knee ligaments. Considering he couldn’t even put his foot on the ground, Filho reluctantly pulled out of the final with Denis Kang.

Filho’s semi-final opponent Kazuo Misaki replaced him and defeated Denis Kang to win the tournament.

Filho remains philosophical, “It was God’s will, I had no other choice.”
