In the run up to Cage Warriors: Showdown 2, we will be introducing you to the Lightweight Grand Prix contenders. In this interview American entry Bryan Cohen reveals that he is gunning for fellow contestant Ian Butlin.

For those out there that may not know who you are, could you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about you and your Martial Arts / MMA background.

I started martial arts when I was 5 years old in Karate and I ended up doing some tournaments with it. Then I got bored of that and I ventured into MMA and went into an amateur match. I won a few and now I am Pro. Right now I am working on Muay Thai, BJJ, Boxing, and Wrestling. I still do practice some Karate. I also besides MMA and Kickboxing, own a few businesses that are growing fast. I plan on opening up a gym with my head trainer and cornerman. I also am a college student studying History and Public Health at Richard Stockton College which is in Southern New Jersey.

Which UFC or Pride fighter's style would you say most closely matches yours and why?

I would say Diego Sanchez because of his speed and good mix of stiking and ground work.

Who do you look up to in Mixed Martial Arts and/or life?

There are many people that I look up to in life, but in the world of combative sports two people that I have always looked up to are Renato Sobral and Muhammad Ali.

You haven’t fought on Cage Warriors before, so could you tell us how you came to be invited to take part in the Cage Warriors Lightweight Grand Prix.

I was looking to go out to Europe to fight and I had a manager helping me out there. I was working on a little project for Cage Warriors and I was told by the manager that helps me out there that it may happen, then one day I get a call from the President of Cage Warriors and asks me if I would like to fight in a light weight tournament. The rest is soon going to be history.

Have you fought in a G.P. format before? How do you feel about it?

A little bit with karate, but nothing like this. It is definitely a different feeling... fighting three fights in one night is a big thing. I am nervous, but all I can do is go out there, do my best and bulldoze through anybody that gets in the cage with me.

How are you preparing for fighting in this Grand Prix?

The preparation for this fight is a little different than usual. I am taking less rest in-between rounds, cutting it by about half and adding in a lot more rounds in any of the workouts that I am doing. I come from a great track and field background and I am working on my speed and endurance now when it comes to fighting.

Who do you expect will be in the final?

There are a lot of good fighters in this event, but who I think will be in the final is

Myself v. Ian Butlin
         or
Myself v. Emmanuel Geay

The fight that I am gunning for though is Ian Butlin after what he said after his last fight. He is no where near the best. He will never be the best and I am going to make sure that he is pounded into oblivion, to the point where he leaves that cage thinking that he never wants to fight again.

What are your MMA aspirations after the Cage Warriors Grand Prix?

I want to win the Lightweight title. Then I want to go on and get the Welterweight title. I would like to also fight in the UFC or Pride.

Finally, do you have a message for your opponent, your fans, or the MMA Universe readers?

Good luck, your not getting by me. Thank you to any of my fans out there for all their support. I would also like to thank my sponsors Knoxx Gear and the rest. They have really helped me out a lot. Anybody else that may be reading this... keep on the lookout for me, and if you would like to contact me, anyone can do it on my myspace page

Thank you for your time and good luck for November 19th.

Thank you for interviewing me.
