Mauricio "Shogun" Rua the Pride 2005 Middle Weight Grand Prix Champion and Chute Boxe Fighter was at Cage Rage 18 to corner his older brother Murillo Rua.

MMA Universe was granted this exclusive interview with “Shogun”.

Mauricio, you will be cornering your brother “Ninja” against Mark Weir, what have you been doing to help Murillo prepare for this fight?

Well being brothers Murilo and I have always helped each other train for our fights. We train together a lot. I always do my best to help my brother because Murilo has always done his best to help me. I know “Ninja” is ready?

When you lost your match with Mark Coleman due to injury there was a mass brawl between Chute Boxe and Hammer House. Is there still a lot of bad blood between the two camps?

It’s not a matter of rivalry, it was for me a fight that everybody was looking forward to but didn’t have a satisfactory ending. So I want to fight him again so the fight can be finished properly and I can prove to everybody that I can beat Mark Coleman.

When you returned to action in Pride you defeated tough French fighter Cyrille Diabate. Were you a 100% health wise for that fight?

Yes, I was 100% fit for the fight.

Your next fight will be at Pride 32: The Real Deal, Pride FC’s first show in the U.S. You will be fighting Kevin Randleman at that event. How are you preparing for the fight?

I’m training for that fight the same as I do for every other fight I have done. A lot of Muay Thai, a lot of Jui Jitsu. As always, I am well prepared to fight stand- up or on the ground.

Are you disappointed that you won’t be fighting Mark Coleman on U.S soil?

Um …No not really disappointed but I did want to face him. I understand the fight game and understand that anything can happen. I may fight him or I may not because a lot of things can happen during the process of match-making. But I still hope one day to rematch Mark Coleman again and his day will come!

It has been reported that Wanderlei Silva was scheduled to fight Chuck Liddell in the UFC but it looks as though that may not happen after he lost to Mirko Filipovic. If you had the opportunity would take Wanderlei’s place?

Of course! If Pride want to send me over to represent Pride FC I would do it proudly because I have fought for Pride for some time. I think Chuck Liddell is one of the best fighters in the world and it is my goal to fight the best, so I would be glad to do it!

Do you have any last words for the MMA UNIVERSE readers?

I would like to give a big hug to all the U.K fans and to all the readers of “MMA UNIVERSE”. I train hard so I can do all the best in my fights and give a great spectacle for the fans so I can please them.
