Can you give us your brief history

Well I’m 27 years old.  I grew up in India and moved to Canada during my elementary years.  I’m Training out of Revolution fight team with Kalib Starnes (TUF 3 vet) and Colin Daynes 1996 Olympian (wrestling).  I love to compete in any type of fighting style i.e. Wrestling, Ji-Jitsu, Boxing etc. My Muay Thai record is 16-4 and MMA record is 9-3.

What was the reason for you to make the move from Muay Thai to MMA?

I just hated walking out of every fight beat up and not able to walk properly for a couple of weeks.  And those were the fights I won!
There’s only one fight in MMA that I have been injured and the was in super brawl against Harris Sarmentos.
Plus I enjoy the complete form of fighting rather than just striking or grappling.

How does it make you feel to be considered the best fighter in your weight division in Canada?

There are many tough fighters in Canada that might not think so.  But for the fans that think I am the best I am very appreciative.  Ranking change all the time.  It’s up to you as a fighter to see how you deal with your loses and how humble you are in victory.  Always stay positive and anything can happen on any given Sunday.

What do you prefer to fight in a Cage or a Ring?

As long is there is enough room for me to hit and move I’m happy. It doesn’t matter to me.  It’s harder for the audience to see the match in a cage rather than the ring.

How did you come up with the name ‘BLACK MAMBA’?

The Black Mamba is a long sleek and fast snake so it fit my profile to the T.

You recently fought in K1 HEROS 5. Before we get into the fight. What do you think attracted K1 to place you in the tournament?

In August of 2005 I went to the K-1 try outs in Vegas were I performed very well against the other competitors. After the try outs I got myself a contract from K-1 and I joined the organization.  K-1 Hero’s is a very well run and organized event and I am honored to be apart of.

You fought against Hideo Tokoro (12/7/1) in the K1 HEROS, 8 Man Middle Weight Tournament and knocked him out in 0:43 seconds in the 1st round.  Where you surprised you beat Tokoro fairly quickly?

Anything can happen in a fight.  I always go in there thinking I’m going to go the distance.  I try to be aggressive without loosing control.  I knew Tokoro was going to try to take me down so as he shot I let my kick go which land perfectly.  Surprised?  NO.

Your next opponent is Caol Uno in the next round. What will give you the edge in this fight against Uno?

As the rumors have it I will be fighting Uno.  Uno is a very strong and smart fighter.  Some say he is the favorite to win the tournament.  I am pleased to except this fight and am honored that K-1 has given this talented opponent to me.  I do not know what my edge is until I get in the ring with him.  I am an instinctive fighter so any opening Uno will give me, I will take it.

Who will you want to fight in your weight group in the future?

MMA and fighting is my hobby.  I work for a living.  I train about 3-4 days a week so I don’t have a desire yet to fight anybody.  As long as people keep asking me to fight I will continue to do so as I am a big fan of the sport and also a competitor.  I will fight anybody just so I can test myself.   Fighting gives me an out from my 9 to 5.

Do you have any last word for MMA Universe readers?

Thank you to the fans for the support and I will continue to do my best.

Thank you to the haters for the motivation and the drive to train harder.

Like poker you are given a certain number of cards in you life.  Keep the ones you like and disregard the ones you don’t.  Keep smiling life is short.

Thank you
