Could you tell us a bit about your Martial Arts background?
I was training a reality-based self-defence system with lots of sparring and grappling and getting more and more interested in the sports aspect.
What got you started in MMA?
I was exposed to Shootfighting in the late 90s, and never looked back.
How long have you been training in MMA?
Specifically, MMA for about six to seven years.
What/Who has been your most significant influence in Martial Arts?
Reading about and by Bruce Lee initially inspired me to think outside the box and seek out non-traditional training methods. Per Frydkjær, my first RBSD instructor, exposed me to hard sparring and hard training, and in MMA, my good friend, Lars Besand, helped me get started in the fight game. Other than that, I find my inspiration in philosophy, sports psychology, coaching and the likes.
How would you describe your fighting style?
Flexible
Do you have any favourite techniques?
No, I have interests that I seek out and explore and allow to alter my style. If it works and it suits the situation, I'll use it. I'm more interested in movement than in specific techniques.
Who do you train with?
I train with an ever-growing group of great and talented guys on our Team Ragnarok in our Budokwai Academy, and we enjoy a good lasting relationship with our friends in Skagen Fight Gym and Lars Besand.
What is your greatest fighting memory?
Winning the championship bout at Ultimate Combat 9: Rebellion after five gruelling rounds with an injured shoulder - an absolute war with a great guy and a great fighter (Mark Wilson).
Who would you like to fight the most?
The next guy that pushes me to become a better and more complete fighter.
What are your ambitions for the future?
To return to fighting after having rehabilitated my knee (I had knee surgery after having been hit by a car).
Anything to add?
No
