Here is a short and friendly interview I conducted with Enson Inoue "Yamatodamashi". He will be here in Italy with Pat Ayuyu, one of his fighters, who is going to fight at New Generation Tournament 2

Hello Enson, how are you doing?

I'm doing great.

Are we likely to see you back in action any time soon?

Yes, I’m trying to get back in training for my last fight later this year.

You are famous for your incredible warrior spirit. What is behind this attitude, honour and pride?

It is imbedded in my belief.  I would be happy to do a short question/answer seminar when I get to Italy for New Generation Tournament 2.  Then I can go into deeper detail about the Yamatodamashii way.

What is the normal training regimen your fighters follow and do you select them or is your gym open to everyone.

We train eight hours a day. Two hours in the morning, two in the afternoon and four at night.

Do you see many differences between MMA today and how it was just four or five years ago?

Yes, there are many more well rounded fighters with no glaring weak points.  It is much tougher to make it big and be a star in MMA now than it was when I first started fighting.

Nowadays most fighters have good submission defences. Do you think that mastering the ground is still as fundamental to a fighter’s strategy these days?

It depends on what kind of strengths the opponent has and what rules you are fighting under.

Nowadays rather than mastering the ground, it is better to understand the ground game while sharpening your striking and wrestling.

Considering that there is not much money, great sacrifices to be made and there are big risks, would you recommend that someone should become a professional fighter?

If you want to make a living in MMA you must want to do it in your heart otherwise don’t do it at all because you will be wasting your time.

You are bringing one of your fighters, Pat “Gori-Chan” Ayuyun to fight at New Generation Tournament 2 in Milan. Are you excited about your visit to Italy?

I am very excited. I have never been to Italy before. I cant even begin to imagine what it would be like. But first I must survive the loooooong plane ride.

After that, what plans do you have for the future and what do you consider to be the most important things in life?

My future is raising a lot of MMA fighters who have heart. The most important thing in life is meeting a nice lady in Italy next month.
