DOORS OPEN AT 11.00am FOR FIGHTERS AND SPECTATORS

The Open Trials is an amateur Mixed Martial Arts competition, with no striking to the head permitted, and allows all punches, kicks, knees, throws, takedowns and submissions. Each competitor is guaranteed a minimum of two fights on the day.

These events, now in their eighth year, offer the perfect opportunity to gain invaluable experience in Mixed Martial Arts competition and are open to ALL competitors from all martial arts backgrounds.

The Combat Sports Open Trials is where MMA champions of tomorrow are born. Zelg Galesic, Paul Jenkins, Sol Gilbert, Paul "Semtex" Daley, Alex Owen, Tom "Kong" Watson and Dave Lee are just a few of today’s hottest stars who have worked their way through the Combat Sports Open Trials ranks.

Weight categories for the events are as follows:

-70.5kg : Lightweight
-77kg: Welterweight
-84kg : Middleweight
-93kg : Light-Heavyweight
-120kg : Heavyweight

The Open Trials is a tough but fun day out. Attitudes are left at the door as the competitors meet to test their skills in a friendly and like-minded environment.

Open Trials competitors will usually fight twice during the afternoon. After the event, competitors are awarded points for their performance (3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss) and then given an official ranking in the Combat Sports Open Trials 2008 league table (see link at bottom of page to view current rankings table).

Successful competitors in the Combat Sports Open Trials events during the three Legs that will be held during 2008 will be invited back to compete in the Combat Sports National Championship 2008 later in the year, where they will fight tournament-style for the National Title, Title Belt, National Recognition and £100 per weight category prize.

All applications to compete in the Combat Sports Open Trials events must be received in advance as there are strictly NO entries permitted on the day.

IMPORTANT:

These events are extremely popular and every single event held in the last FOUR YEARS has completely sold out of competitor spaces several weeks in advance of each event! So - please get your entries in ASAP as these events WILL sell out once again this year!!!

ENTRY FEE'S:

COMPETITION ENTRY FEE (LICENSE HOLDERS): £15.00
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP (INCLUDING INSURANCE): £15.00

SPECIAL OFFER:
Membership Insurance License AND entry to your first event - £20.00 (combined value usually £30.00!)

Please note: All competitors MUST have Combat Sports Open Trials (or BAMMA) membership and insurance. No fighter shall be permitted to compete without the membership and insurance - and also note that other insurance policies will NOT be accepted for competing in our events.

Once purchased, membership and insurance will last for one year and will cover you to compete in all of our events during that time. So you do not need to buy insurance for every event - only once per year!

SPECTATORS TICKETS: Everyone is welcome to come along and spectate at any of the Combat Sports Open Trials events. The price is only £10.00 per ticket if booked in advance, or £15.00 on the door.
