"This was the best event I have been to in the UK" - Nakedchoke

"It was the best event I've been to this year" - Truthseeker

"The event wasn't as entertaining as the previous ones and not even close to extreme force last summer at the same place." - Trunksan

Cage Rage 7 Saturday July 10th saw Wembley conference centre pack in a crowd of over 3000 fans to witness Cage Rage 7 Battle of Britain This fast growing event pits Athlete against athlete, all of whom are experienced martial artists from various martial arts, but mostly these athletes cross train studying several different martial arts at once. This is Known as MMA or mixed martial arts. Grappling, wrestling and striking are among the styles most common in these modern day gladiators. There are

Several ways of winning but most common are submissions (joint manipulation) the old fashioned knock out and Referee stoppage.

I am sat in my seat as the announcer calls for spectators to take there seats as the show is about to begin then all of a sudden the lights dip and the Cage Rage anthem is played as the award winning Elite fighting system demonstration team take to the ramp the ladies come out first dancing provocatively as the crowd applaud and cheer

Out next are the elite guys and what a fantastic performance it is proving to me two things never judge a book by its cover and women defiantly are not the weaker sex

As the demonstration team leave the cage the announcer appears again to call the first

Fighters.

Philly San Vs Dave Elliot

This fight was a fantastic start to the night Philly looked focused as the

Ref (Grant Waterman) calls the fighters to the centre of the cage both men touch gloves and step back to there corners the ref calls to see if the fighters are ready both

Are ready and the fight begins Dave Elliott shoots in quickly and takes Philly to the floor both men are using grappling skills jostling for the best position then as if out of no where Dave Elliott spins to an arm bar position manipulating the arm of Philly san forcing him to tap (submit) Philly stands clearly disappointed with he’s loss and wincing from the pain in his arm Dave Elliott immediately comes over to Philly to see if he’s ok and it is a fine show of sportsmanship between these warriors

Xavier Foupa Pokam Vs Paul Daley

Daley was due to fight Dexter Casey, but Casey pulled out due to injury. This fight is the first international bout of the night with Daley from the UK and Xavier from France Xavier’s entry sticks out in mind loud church music begins to play and the acoustics in Wembley make it sound fantastic then as you look to the run way out steps Xavier dressed head to toe in a full monks outfit the crowd are excited by this and begin to cheer Xavier makes his way to the Cage removing he’s outfit he’s tall and lean and looks in good physical condition both men are now ready time to get it on its an explosive fight with Xavier quickly dominating with knees Paul is pinned

Up against the side of the cage but blocking well both men are trading blow for blow they circle one another then its stand up trading again and this time Daley lands an extraordinary left hook almost taking Xavier clean off his feet he’s been knocked out cold and it has now become obvious why they call the winner Paul "semtex" Daley

Rick Andrews Vs Jeremy Bailey

Third fight and the crowd are buzzing the atmosphere is fantastic and I find myself excited and looking forward to the next bout then out steps Ricky Andrews from the Elite Fighting system surrounded by his team mates all dancing and creating a carnival like atmosphere then out steps Bad Boy with his trade mark entrance accompanied by the bad girls who proceed to strip Jeremy down to his fight attire

The teams leave the cage and Bad Boy has a psyched look on his face as

Ricky Andrews stands ready they begin and Jeremy throws some big shots Ricky retaliates with shots of his own but neither fighter is able to get a clean shot they go to the ground and Ricky stars to sink a guillotine choke which basically means Ricky has got his forearm across the throat of Jeremy. Jeremy struggles to fight the choke Ricky is setting in tighter and tighter Jeremy is forced to tap and is very gracious in defeat he announces to the crowd that he feels the best man won Ricky is excited to have won

And during the after fight interview it comes to light that Ricky begun he’s martial arts career after seeing Jeremy on TV and deciding he wanted to one day fight him it would seem for some people dreams can come true.

Samy Schiavo Vs Robbie Olivier

The second international bout of the night Robbie Olivier from Cambridge Free Fight and semmy from France this fight is fast from the beginning with Samy throwing a fantastic punch Knocking Robbie backwards to the floor cutting his nose the fight goes to ground both guys are battling it out for position with Paul taking advantage and getting to Samys Back sinking in a rear naked choke forcing the Frenchmen to submit

It’s a good scalp for Robbie Olivier as the detailed programme shows Samy is the more experienced fighter.

Paul Jenkins Vs Ronaldo Campos
Welterweight Title Bout

Paul Jenkins is a very amusing fighter as he dances he’s way to the cage he looks more relaxed than any fighter to enter the cage octagon so far smiling laughing and joking with the crowd both men stand ready as the ref starts the bout they circle each other moving round feeling out the distance this fight starts very much like a boxing

Match with both guys circling one another throwing out jabs then Ronaldo the Brazillian jui juitsu expert ties Paul’s arms up high stopping Paul from unleashing big shots this fight is steady and well matched until the third round and both fighters know that this round is the deciding round Paul throws an awesome body shot that hits Ronaldo in the solar plexes knocking him clean to the canvas Ronaldo is winded and calls to Paul to join him in a ground fight but Paul refuses and the ref calls Ronaldo to his feet Paul strikes Ronaldo again to the body sending Ronaldo crashing

To the canvas Ronaldo is winded again and the ref stops the fight victory is Paul’s and he is the new cage rage welterweight champion Ronaldo showing good sportsmanship goes To Paul and places the belt on his waist the crowd applaud.

Jean Francois Lenogue Vs Damien Riccio

This fight is billed as the first ever full contact cage fight between two Frenchmen anywhere in the world and it is clear to see when both stand face to face that Jean Francois has a height advantage as the fight begins jean capitalises on his height advantage keeping Ricco at bay with a straight jab Ricco tries to close the distance forcing jean François to the side of the cage Ricco is clearly using upper body strength As he tries unsuccessfully to take François down every time Francois breaks

Free from Riccos grip Ricco forces him to the same position against the side of the cage when suddenly François explodes in to action holding the back of Ricco’s neck

He starts throwing knees and punches Ricco looks dazed and is cut the fight continues this way with François taking advantage at every possibility it goes three round and the explosive flurry’s from François in the first and third round are enough for him to clinch the points victory

Emmanuel Fernandez Vs Leigh Remedios

Another international bout with veteran Remedios from Kent, England looking to end a losing run and the relatively inexperienced Fernandez from France

Remedios entrance is fantastic with him and his corner men entering the cage on electric scooters while draped in George cross flags its very exciting and again the fans show there appreciation for such an entertaining entrance Leigh looks almost angry as he stands opposite Emmanuel. The fight begins and Emmanuel Fernandez throws a good mixture of punches and kicks and performs well against the more experienced fighter winning takedowns pulling Remedios in to guard position every time Leigh tries do anything, Emmanuel goes to his feet and dominates the take downs.

It’s very exciting for three rounds and the Frenchmen wins on a point’s decision.

Well deserved win.

Jess Liaudin Vs Matt Ewin

This fight promises to be one of the top fights of the night with two very experienced

Fighters facing one another again it’s an international bout. The atmosphere right now has risen to another level the crowd knows these guys well as every where I look the fans are screaming and cheering the noise level is amazing as the fight begins both men look very strong as Matt’s back is slammed to the cage both guys fight for position then Matt Ewin lifts Jess slamming him to the canvas he falls in to side mount but Jess quickly fights for guard position Jess tries to work a kimoura but

Matt escapes well. Round two and neither man looks as though he’s breathing

Heavily after five minutes of combat they start the same with Jess using strength to pin Matt to the side of the cage Matt again slams Jess to the canvas this time firing off some quick shots breaking Jess nose they continue to fight but Jess quickly stops and calls to the ref to stop the fight and it comes to light that where jess is laying on his back he is drowning on the blood from his broken nose a brilliant war and a good win for Matt Ewin

Oliver Ellis Vs Jean Silva
Lightweight Title Bout

The first thing that catches my attention in this fight is Jean Silva’s hair it is the colours of the Brazilian flag and looks fantastic both guys are ready in there corners

Jean is crouched tapping the canvas and rocking backwards and forwards on his heels and toes they start and Jean Silva launches himself across the cage throwing a kick that fails to catch Oliver Ellis both men go to ground Oliver is the underdog but looks every bit as good as Jean meeting him move for move jean attempts a triangle choke but Oliver escapes forcing Jean to try an arm bar but again Oliver escapes the first round is very technical they come out for the second round and go to ground again Oliver holds Jean in guard position Jean tries to force Oliver to the side of the cage so that he can let of punches but Oliver’s defence is strong another very technical round

Round three both men still look strong as they come out again they go to ground jostling for the better position but neither man gains a clear advantage the fight ends with both men trying to get ankle submissions Jean Silva wins on points decision but it is a very close call.

Michael Bisping Vs Mark Epstein
Light Heavyweight Title

The support these two gladiators get is amazing as I look around me every body is on there feet screaming for these fighters to get it on we have just seen a video clip of both fighters announcing they want a knockout so the fans are excited both men are ready and they are both huge men both start exploding in the centre of the cage throwing and blocking kicks, punches and knees they move round the cage both men throwing huge bombs Epstein gets the take down and begins to strike down on to Bisping. Michael adjusts himself and attempts a triangle choke but Epstein escapes

Getting back to his feet they begin to strike it out again but the bell sounds end of round one round two and Epstein looks to be breathing heavy the side of his eye is swollen but the doctor gives him the ok both men start where they finished but Bisping takes advantage and throws some devastating combinations forcing the ref to stop the fight Michael Bisping is new cage rage light heavyweight champion

Jorge Rivera Vs Mark Weir

This fight is top of the bill and its two world renowned fighters with big reputations

Both men enter the cage both are tall lean fighters the fight begins and Mark Weir throws an incredible punch kick combination that forces Rivera backwards Mark continues to rain punches on to Rivera but he defends well and wins a takedown

Mark quickly gets guard position Rivera throws some good clean shots he forces weir to the side of the cage where he is able to fire off a knee catching Mark clean the round ends and Marks right eye is closed from swelling the doctor stops the fight and Rivera wins

All in I have had a very exciting and entertaining night and I cant wait until the next one.

Fans Reactions:

Philly San v Dave Elliot : Dave's opponent took a risk getting into the octogan. I don't know what his record is, but based on what i saw, to go against a fighter of Dave's skill (esp on the ground) with his skillset is fool hardy and he could have ended up badly hurt.

Paul Daley Vs Poukam : Hmm, I think Xavier slipped and then was sfuked cos Daley was straight onto him with big hands. he was wobbling all over the place when he was stood back up. Daley has dynamite in his gloves for sure.

Rick Andrews V Jeremy "Bad Boy" Bailey : Bad Boy is entertaining, definitely able to promote a fight well in the pre match banter, but neither of these guys looked stellar (If Andrew is a new fighter fair enough, but one might have expected more from the BadBoy). Andrew seemed to come in chin first a lot, something he'll need to watch against a big hitter. Was nice to see all the Elite lot geeing him up before his fight, they certainly know how to support their fighters. - Jsho

Proved what has been obvious for so long, Bailey has very little grappling skills. Rick Andrew by guilotine 2 min in the 1st. The fight was like watching 2 white belts rolling, very poor technique from both. Although the entrances were very entertaining, especially Rick's, his whole team was dancing around him. - Trunksan

Ronaldo Campos v Paul Jenkins Ronaldo controlled the fight on the ground for 2 rounds. He got side mount twice but didn't capitalize on it. He seemed very slow standing up and even on the ground he rarely punched, or did anything. Jenkins got some good body shots on the 3rd and floored campos twice, Jenkins wouldn't follow on the ground to finish the fight (which is obvious since Campos is a BJJer), Campos wouldn't stand up, so the ref stopped it.

Semmy Schiavo V Robbie Olivier : Great scalp for Robbie O. looked like Samy wasn't focused. - Jsho

Damien Riccio vs Jean Francois Lenogue Riccio game as always, but maybe too small for this weight cat? Lenogue was good as well. As for the foot stomps... - Jsho

I think he (Riccio)is a natural Welter weight though middlweight or light heavy is a real push for a guy his size. A warrior – Dexter Casey

Emmanuel Fernandez v Leigh Remedios : Fernandez is a new BJJ fighter from France and he was VERY impressive. He had the better stand-up mixing punches with high-kicks. BUT he had AMAZING takedowns, Leigh is an experienced fighter but Fernandez got the takedown every single time. He had a good guard and every time Leigh tried to pass, he would simply stand up and get the takedown again. The fight was very technical on th ground, me being a grappler I realy enjoyed it, don't think most of the crowd did, though. - Trunksan

Jess Liaudin vs Matt Ewin

Round 1 Ewin got the takedown ad even passed the guard, but didn't get the chance to do much as Less got back to guard. The he went to almost completing an OMOPLATA, I was really screamming, because I could see he wa s going for it. However, Matt escaped and Jess didn't even sweep.

Round 2 Matt go the takedown again and put Jess on the fence, from there he punched him a couple of times. The fight had to be stopped because Jess was choking in his own blood, it wasn't a broken nose as initially thought. - Trunksan

Jean Silva vs Oliver Ellis: Silva made a classic mistake, assuming that he was fighting a no mark, probably not training hard enough and then taken the distance. Ollie has always looked slick at KSBO matches and looked lean and hungry for this fight, his sub wrestling was good. i think the refs bottled it. Not sure who was compering, but lets leave talk of UFC shots for both men to one side shall we for the moment... Gerald S must be champing at the bit to get a rematch with Silva now on that performance, he'll twist him back to Paraiba - Jsho

Well I didnt judge this one but I was at the judges table and can tell you it was scored 2 draws and 1 in favour of Ellis so it was a majority decision draw. Initially i thought it was unfair and that Ellis should have won but on contemplation I thought this was right as if you are gonna beat the champ you gotta really beat the champ. if its as close as this was then its fair to call it a draw.....but Ellis is the real deal and i look forward to seeing him in the future - John Kavanagh

I had Ellis as the winner. both fighters showed courage, determination and respect for eachother. i scored round 1 and 3 as to close to call, so they were 10/10. and round 2 in favour of Ellis 10/9. so my card had 1 point in it, a really close call. - Darrin Richardson

Michael Bisping v Mark Epstein: Bisping is gonna tear this division up. Epstein has skills and probably won the first round, but was owerwhelmed in the second by Bisping's stand up - The Ref was spot on in when he stopped the fight. - Trunksan

The stoppage was good. Even while he was being punched around the octagon his legs never wobbled and even the knee at the end didn't buckle him he was just too gassed to move out the way. Bisping chose his shots very well and did not over extend himself so that he could keep the barrage up. - Dexter Casey

Mark Weir v Jorge Rivera : Weir scores a big kick on the first exchange and goes on with punches, but Rivera got his act together and got the takedown, he worked good punches from Weir's guard for the rest of the round. The fighters never came out for the second round as the ref decided to stop the fight since Weir's eye was cut. - Trunksan
