There was a first gong, wonderful music, and amazing choreography. Not these issues however gathered a full audience in Warsaw “Torwar” Venue. Those who decided to buy tickets came to see 10 real Bouts, all in MMA formula.
TOURNAMENT
The first fight in the ninth gala of “KSW”. Two opponents presenting ground styles judo and wrestling competed against each other. The Pole was in control of the fight all the time, and thus the judges decided obviously that the winner was the KSW Team member.
The confrontation was all the way controlled by a fighter from Cieszyn. Zawada was trying to fight standing, but Blachowicz was all the time keeping the fight on the ground, this way eliminating all the most important advantages of the popular King Kong. The result was an achieved Jan’s victory. "He is incredibly strong, I couldn’t do anything", claimed the looser after the fight. "Now I have to rest, and then start exercising intensively".
The winner of the eight edition of “KSW” came to Warsaw in order to defend the champion’s belt. His rival in the first fight was a vice champion of eliminations to this event. There was no surprise. After an interesting fight, full of wrestling techniques, the Ukrainian contestant won.
"I have never heard of a well fighting Brazilian training in Portugal", Andrzej Janisz, a commentary from Polsat Sport claimed before the Bout. He turned out to be absolutely right. The contestant from the country famous for its coffee turned out to be the worst in all the event. Aziz has completely crushed him with a well aimed kick in the head and thus showed the Brazilian his place. It was in the first seconds of the fight and it was a knock out. It’s worth to mention that Aziz was not hit even once.
Semi-finals
The first semi-final fight, Antek was trying to fight in the ground, but it was effectively avoided by Blachowicz. The first round didn’t bring us much emotion. In the second round the fighters decided to show all they had. It was much better for Janek, who strongly hit the Warsovian in the face. Then the fight moved to the ground level. The winner of first eliminations turned out to be more effective in this part. A well placed lever and we had the first finalist.
In the second match for the final some changes happened. Injured Oleinink (broken ribs) was replaced by his rival from the first round, Daniel Dowda.
The Turk from the very first moments of the fight wanted to knock the fighter. The Pole defended himself well and he effectively pushed the fight into the ground level. That tactics paid off. The Pole won, who attacked successfully and was better in judge’s opinions. Thus, we have got to know the pair in the finals of ninth “KSW” finals. The pair was the same as in organized eliminations – Blachowicz vs. Dowda.
FINAL
Another change of the fighter happened, this time in the final match. Much injured Daniel Dowda got replaced by his semi-final’s rival. Daniel has been strongly beaten in the face. Before the competition he struggled with a foot injury. The final would be a piece of cake for Blachowicz and it wouldn’t take much time. Therefore we decided that he will not fight for a champion’s belt.
No matter, Dowda or Karaoglu. The match wasn’t long. The Cieszyn’s gladiator had a quick work with the Turk and he got the trophy of the best fighter in ninth edition of “KSW”.
EXTRA FIGHTS
After two rounds the judges decided that an extra time fighting should take place. “Goral” was more active one in that part, he scored three well placed hits and he knocked his opponent down twice. The Lithuanian hit once only in return. The Bout was won by Norkeliunas.
It was the last fight in a history of polish MMA legend, the popular „Jakubek”. Unfortunately our champion followed a great boxer Dariusz Michalczewski’s way and he reassigned from fighting with a failure.
The fight was started by a Bulgarian Olympian in a very aggressive way. It would all be all right, if not the fact that the Bulgarian decided to play “Andrzej Golota” and his first two hits were not in the head of Jakubek, but his crotch. After these two excesses the fight was carried on in a sporty manner. After ten minutes (two rounds) a foreign contestant visibly won. Wasn’t he well prepared? I don’t think so. He simply hadn’t fought for a long time, and that’s why his performance wasn’t the best.
Rhythmic Chechen disco polo song, kids dancing in national apparels, all this accompanied Mamed when he was getting onto the ring. One could see a huge flow of strength given to Fighter from Olsztyn. The KSW Team fighter entered the ring, only to leave it after a while being happy from another victory. His rival was with no chances this evening. Khalidov marked a punch, went between Poceviciou’s legs and started strangling him. The Lithuanian had nothing else to do but to surrender, for he had no chances to set himself free from the Pole’s catch. Right after the fight had finished it began, “Show made in Chechnya”, like dances, singing and pictures of fighter with his closest friends.
