Marking a year since CWFC's first visit to Nottingham's Harvey Haddon Arena, it was once again host to Enter the Rough House for their fifth instalment of this popular format.

Scheduled for 10 fights, a mixture of Class B MMA, so no heel hooks, elbows or spine locks, Full Pro MMA, and Caged Kickboxing.

Ian Dean was working hard behind the scenes, insuring everyone was looked after and running round like he was on fire. Thanks Ian, a credit to UK MMA, you are doing us all (and Dougie) proud.

Kicking off a little later than scheduled was the first of two Class B fights. Both making their Pro MMA debut.

FIGHT ONE

ROUND ONE

Karsten opens coming out to the centre of the cage and lands a heavy leg kick, closing the distance well to secure the takedown. Chris reverse the guard and goes for a rear naked choke. Showing his ground skills Karsten locks on a straight armbar from the bottom. Chris slams Karsten twice into the mat, but it's not enough to let Karsten release his vice-like grip. Failing to capitalise the fight gets stood up. Chris proves to be the better man on his feet, and seeing this Kartsen wants it back on the mat.

Teeing off and looking for the armbar he switches very quickly to a triangle and it's on tight, and Chris is tapping, Karsten securing his first and deserved MMA fight at 4:52 of round one. As Chris was tapping, he was offside to the ref. This was unseen and thankfully everyone was shouting for him to stop it, or he could have been seriously injured.

Both fighters showed they were worthy of another fight in CWFC, nearly 5 minutes of non-stop action, on the ground and stood up. Watch out for them both!

FIGHT TWO

Chris returning once again to CWFC, looked keen to get the fight underway, circling the cage upon his entrance. Svasunas already sporting two black eyes from training did not look in a good way even before the fight started. As a catchweight bout, Chris outweighed his opponent and looked good.

As the fight kicks off Chris closes the gap and takes Svasunas to the mat and gets his back. Dropping in shot after unanswered shot he is defenceless and as he was not defending himself the fight gets stopped. Barely broken sweat, Chris is stood up and is declared the winner to ground and pound at 3:04 in round one.

FIGHT THREE

Making his much anticipated return to CWFC was local and crowd favourite Steve Tetley from the UK's answer to Chute Boxe, Team Rough House. He was matched against Sunderland Ju-Jitsu's Ross Pearson.

ROUND ONE

Opening up and showing his Muay Thai skills, Steve comes in with low kicks. Ross grips Steve and sends him crashing to the mat and keeps him there firing in some heavy accurate shots. Steve scrabbles to his feet only to get caught by a neat punch, rocking him slightly. Ross takes Steve down once again and looks to finish with some heavy shots and a rear naked attempt. Steve is lucky to escape and Ross switches for the straight armbar which he cranks on tight. Steve refuses to tap, with his Rough House cornermen and crowd pleading for him to tap as his arm is pointing the wrong way. The fight is stopped and Ross is declared the winner at 4:46 of the first and only round.
Steve didn't really find his pace, and his absence from the cage showed, let's hope to see him back next time on his usual form!

FIGHT FOUR

Last of the Class B rule's fight, saw Dean from Rough House facing Dave from the Wolfslair in his Pro debut.

ROUND ONE

Dave opens with a low to high kick combo. Dean clinches up and knees the face of Dave. Dave takes dean down, and slams him to the mat. Fighting on the mat, Dave jumps back and locks on a heel hook. Normally this would have secured him a nice win, but as they were fighting in the Class B group, heel hooks are disallowed. In the post fight interview Dave sent his apologies to the crowd, and more importantly, his opponent who was still nursing a sore knee.

Dean received the loudest reception from the crowd, and was gutted to notch up his first Pro win via a disqualification. Safe to say we have not seen the last from this fighter. A rematch under full Pro rules would be nice, come on Ian, sort it out, and soon!

FIGHT FIVE

Brett Healy vs Andy Webb

Taking the first of the evening's caged kickboxing fights, Andy was pitted against Brett for a 3x3 minute K1 rules fight.

ROUND ONE

Andy comes out of his corner and kicks Brett to his outstretched arm, catching him on his wrist which sends him to his corner writhing in agony. Clearly all is not well, and after the fight is stopped and the paramedics rush in it confirmed Brett suffered a broken wrist. Unlucky as both fighters looked keen to treat the crowd to some 12oz K1 action.

FIGHT SIX

Making his pro debut from the Wolfslair, Lukasz was pitted against local favourite and un-defeated Lee Livingstone.

ROUND ONE

Lucasz comes straight out and takes Lee to the mat with a single leg. In Lee's guard Lucasz looks for submission after submission. The win comes quick and early as Lukasz feints with some bombs, jumping back into an achilles lock and Lee is tapping at 2:31 of round one.
Lucasz gets his first Pro win, and looked tight against such a seasoned fighter. Lee was pretty gutted to say the least to notch up his first loss, but hopefully we will not have seen the last of either fighter.

FIGHT SEVEN

Returning once again to CWFC was entertainer and all rounder Manslaughter matched against CWFC newcomer Morbid Angel.

ROUND ONE

Opening up with a sweet takedown from Chas, Manslaughter finds himself on the mat. After he scrabbles to his feet manslaughter forgets where he is and gets caught with a shot right on the chin. Slightly rocked Manslaughter regains his composure and showing a touch of class Chas offers his glove out to touch. Both fighters get stuck into each other and the fight is once more on the mat. With two seasoned ground fighters it was only a matter of time before the fight is finished in the favour of Chas, as Manslaughter is caught in a cross straight arm bar from the bottom and he taps at 4:21 of the first and only round.

FIGHT EIGHT

Last of the caged kickboxing events, Paul had travelled up from Caerdydd to meet local Rough House fighter Judo Jim.

As all 3 rounds were pretty much the same, they will be covered together. Both fighters fought hard and clean, with some equal respect for each other's style. With the pair being more used to MMA, it was hard seeing them in 12oz gloves, and not 4oz mitts.

This fight made it all the way to the 3rd and final round, when it went to the judges, and there was only one winner, Judo Jim via unanimous decision.

FIGHT NINE

The penultimate fight of the night matched Rough House's Outlaw v's Manu. Taking the fight on a last minute, Outlaw entered the cage sporting his well earnt CWFC title belt. Although not the main event, this should have been. In his pre-fight interview Outlaw said that Manu was going down in the first, hopefully with a KO.

ROUND ONE

Dan comes out firing in left right combos to close the gap. Seeing he does not want to be stood up, Manu takes Dan to the mat. Not keen to be on the mat, Dan gets to his feet. Easily overpowering his opponent, Dan secures his win with some knees and punches to his downed opponent, who has had enough. He taps and Dan is ecstatic to have won his first fight on UK soil in a good while. Having took the fight on short notice, and suffering from the dreaded jet lag Dan did not looked fazed what-so-ever, and was surgical in shot delivery.

FIGHT TEN

Tap or Snaps Wayne was making his 3rd appearance at CWFC, and was keen to get stuck into Victor, an independent fighter.

ROUND ONE

Wayne gets the takedown immediately and puts Victor on the canvas. Cranking on the keylock Victor taps at only 26 seconds of the first and only round.

A shame it had to end so soon, with 2 guys of this size it would have been a real war. Who will step up to Wayne's weight and take him on?

And that was that, the only fight going more than one round and the distance was Judo Jim's K! Fight.

Thanks as always to Ian Dean and Warrior promotions for an amazing night of well matched fights, Chris from MMAU, and all the fighters, trainers, and you (and me) the fans.

Season's beatings, and thanks for reading.
