Glasgow's Braehead Arena 4th 2007:

Scotland is the land of bag pipes, Scotch Whisky and Golf, but now you can definitely add the land of fighting. Cage Wars Scotland: The Brave presented by Martial Arts X-treme proved that and more. The Braehead Arena was rocking with over 3500 rabid fight fans watching 16 exciting matches. And when I say rabid I do mean rabid, as in they would literally come out of their seats to cheer for local talent. Promoters should take note, Glasgow is the home for great fight fans!

Now on to the fights, in an event crowned with exciting matches some stood out. The battle between Thomas Karlsson  Vs Ruben Vazquez  was definitely a candidate for "fight of the night" as Karlsson would get Vazquez in dire straights with triangles, arm-locks or simply pounding from the mount to within seconds of stoppage. Just as everyone expected to see Vazquez submit or the fight be stopped, the feisty Spaniard would come roaring back , escaping from the jaws of death throwing leather. This went on for 1 and 1/2 rounds until finally Karlsson caught him with a rear naked for the win.

Second "fight of the night" candidate was the battle between Andy Hillhouse Vs Luis Vagner. The more experienced  "Godzilla" took the fight in short notice against the local hero but inexperienced Hillhouse. The fight began with "Godzilla" beating Hillhouse to the punch, getting him in trouble and leading toward what appeared to be an early stoppage, when Hillhouse, with the raucous local crowd urging him on, somehow pulled off a devastating punch that sent Vagner to the mat on his back. Vagner recovered and the war was on. The two warriors traded blows until finally Vagner bested a spent Hillhouse at 1:15m on R2.

Other excellent bouts were Tom Niinimaki  over Bogdan Christea in another war and Jamie McKenzie Vs Ciaran Kelly while lighting fast Iwan Mussardo caught Martin Begley in a guillotine at 22 sec. R1.

The main event of the evening saw the experienced Augusto Frota submit Peter "Slam" Duncan by Guillotine choke early in the second round. Augusto fmanaged to concentrate and put on a winning effort despite having cornered his 3 fighters competing in the same event prior to his own match.

Promoters Patrick Mooney and the G4 group are to be commended for an exciting show that launches their partnership with MAX group.
