MMA has arrived in Luxemburg, and anybody who attended the Fight Fiesta deLuxe on Saturday night at the Centre sportif et culturel in Luxemburg-City, left the building with a big smile, knowing that this sport is going to stay ! Even though the venue was not packed, the atmospere was just fanatastic, with an enthousiastic audience and fighters giving it 100 percent, making the event a big success for almost everyone.
In the main event of the night, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Igor Araujo defeated Polish Submission Wrestling Champion Marcin Krzysztofiak who suffered his very first loss in mma competition. The fight went back and forth from the beginning, with Krzysztofiak landing a few good punches early in the first round that made Araujo shoot in on his opponent. Krzysztofiak made a beautiful sprawl, stuffing Araujo in the ground, forcing the Brazilian to go for half guard and Krzysztofiak started to land a few heavy punches on his opponent. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt changed position and it was hard for the Polish Submission Wrestling Champion to either pass Araujo's guard or get a more promising position.
Later in the first round, Araujo mounted his opponent and started to unload punches but Krzysztofiak managed to get out of danger, reversing Araujo butfalling into a triangle choke. To get out of that submission hold he lifted up the Brazilian and slammed him back on the mat. End of round one.
In the second Round Araujo came out with a looping right overhand setting up a shoot and bringing down his opponent. The Brazilian then showed all of his ground supremacy catching Krzysztofiak in a beautiful tide Triangle Choke resulting in a tap out at 50 seconds in the second round.
In the second Pro Mma bout of the night, German Florian Muller, member of the Outsider Club Team and one of Germany's most promising newcomer in MMA competition defeated his opponent Edwin Raczynski by Triangle Choke in the very first round. Florian Müller dominated the fight in the stand up and on the ground and if the referee had not broken up the fight when Müller was going for a front choke - there was no reason for a stoppage - he would probably have finished his opponent earlier in the round.
Also on the card, two fighters from Luxemburg made their Mixed Martial Arts debut, both looking nervous in their debut, especially because they were fighting in front of their home crowd, but both also delivering a good performance.
Guy Kaulmann, member of the Martial Arts Academy Luxemburg, went to distance with Kristian Ozimec from the KTB Legion / Hipp Valetudo, winning a unanimous decision. Kaulmann was taking down his opponent numerous times in the fight, controlling him on the ground, going for several submission attempts and leaving no question to the judges on the outcome.
Serge Baccega, also a member of the Martial Arts Academy Luxemburg, was not so lucky in his mma debut, facing a very tough and very talented Tomek Luczkiewicz, who immediatly shot in on Baccega, took him down and controled him on the ground. When Serge Baccega tried to go for a triangle choke, Luczkiewicz easily passed his opponent's guard and caught him in a kimura, forcing his opponent to role over and get trapped in a beautiful exerced armbar.
