Nearly a year ago on July 8, 2005, Kevin Gittemeier and Steve Kinnison treated the crowds at Earthlink Live to one of the best fights of the year in MMA. It was a fight that saw two men stand and bang at each other all night long and hardly ever take the fight to the ground.

UFC star Forrest Griffin was in the crowd and felt that Kinnison won the fight, as many in the crowd thought as well. Kinnison was coming to the fight as a heavy favorite after beating one of Gittemeier's training partners only a few months earlier. But the judges awarded the fight to Gittemeier and a rematch was already in the works.

Now a year later it was time for Gittemeier and Kinnison to do it again, this time for the vacant ISKA Eastern United States Championship.

It was a year later and almost like two totally different fighters in the ring as Gittemeier dominated the fight from bell to bell never allowing Kinnison to get anywhere near a victory. Gittemeier made it easy for the judges this time winning all three rounds in domating fashion while securing the ISKA Eastern United States Championship.

Other fighters that caught the crowd's attention was Chris Zigler domination of Micael Blasco with a quick first round rear naked choke. Zigler, a Wild Bill's security guard, put his 200 lbs to good use as he stormed out of the gates and submitted his opponent in his first fight ever.

Ran Weathers made quick work of his opponent Eric Strickland. At the weigh-in Weathers showed up heavy and Strickland elected to take a portion of Weathers' purse money rather than make Weathers drop the extra weight. Weathers showed him the next night that you don't take money from him as he ended the fight only 38 seconds into it on the mount striking down unanswered blow after unanswered blow when the ref stepped in.

Stephen Ledbedder, from Forrest Griffin's Hardcore Gym in Athens, continued his undefeated streak with a hard two round victory over Morrison Lamb. The two went back and forth in the first round, but Ledbedder's jiu jitsu experience allowed him to end the fight in the second round via submission.

Sam Holloway put his 245 lbs of solid muscle to good use in defeating Chris Herring early in the first round. Holloway, who is a chiropractic student at Life University and probably could win body building competitions, was just too strong for Herring.

Tom Nguyen showed the heart of a champion overcoming a shoulder injury in the first minute of his fight with Tim Williams to earn a decision in his fight after three rounds. After separating his shoulder in the first round, Nguyen fought the rest of the fight only using one arm. Nguyen also entertained the crowd with his ring entrance by having numerous Hooters girls lead him into the ring.

James Thorpe "The Black Plague"proved yet again that he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the best of the best in Georgia by quickly disposing of overmatched Brandon Quigley. Thorpe dropped Quigley early then proceeded to soccer kick him and end the fight in dominating fashion.
