The highly rated Terry Etim was facing his toughest test to date against Northern Irelands Greg Loughran a man who has had ten fights over a four year career. Etim came out strong with some very hard low kicks that had Loughran going from one side of the cage to another. Loughran then got Etims back and was delivering some strong ground and pound which you could see was frustrating the young wonder kid. A string talking to from Etim’s corner made the young scouser set his act together. He looked ready and in no time took Loughran down and mounted him before taking his back and choking him out, Terry’s perfect record now stands at 6-0-0.
Newcasle warrior Peter Irving took a fight with local Kev Axeworthy at 2.00 on the day. He displayed strong ground work to out fox Axeworthy who was out of his depth technically, to win by rnc (Axeworthy refused to tap). This impressive display has earned Peter Irving a shot at Terry Etims CG Lightweight belt.

The fight we were all looking forward to, did not disappoint. Jay Tan has been thought highly of for some time now but in Team Rough House fighter Jim Wallhead he knew he was going to be in for a WAR and what we got was a WAR.

This fight is probably the most exciting fight witnessed for the year and left the crowd knowing that they had got their monies worth. It started off explosive with both men trading and Jay looking for the big overhand right. But Jim traded back with a combo of his own which made Jay reconsider his game plan and switch tactics. Tan looking and delivering the low kicks which had Jimmy rocked, but before we knew it BOOM jimmy hits back with a right that had Tan on the floor, after exchanging his own ground and pound brutality, Wallhead preferred the fight standing up and allowed Tan back on his feet. It was the same for three rounds blow after blow, triangle attempt after triangle attempt by Tan, defence after defence by Wallhead, this fight was what MMA was about.  So we went to the Judges scorecard and it was a unanimous decision given to Jimmy Wallhead, later Tan revealed that he had sustained a rather bad knee injury in the 1st round, that would keep him out for three months. Look out for a rematch  spring 2007!!!

Ronnie Mann was slick and demonstrated a wide array of MMA skills. He was sharp in the stand up wit h good jabs and EFFECTIVE head kicks. Good take downs , strong GnP.  Mann won by GnP up against the cage. Next fighting for featherweight title v Chris Freebourne on CG III on Dec 3rd

Local favourite Carl Morgan showed brut strength in dismantling Blackpool MMA veteran Lee Threlfall. Carl sporting a “Chuck “Mohican ,took his record to 4-1-0 with a relatively quick TKO, taking out his stunned opponent with a barrage of kicks and punches. Next for Morgan surely a top ten British middleweight.

Mark Scanlon’s debut in MMA saw him parade some tight skills nurtured with the Brazilian RFT team. Months of training with Pride fighter Luciano Azavedo have put Mark in good stead for his MMA future. An excellent body slam was followed up with brutal GnP.  After his beating ,Welsh opponent  Richard Evans staggered about like Trevor Berbick following his Tyson drubbing. Mark a big ticket seller has a promising future in the sport.

Electric atmosphere in this amphitheatre style venue, surely the best fight sport venue in the country. A crowd close to 1000 enjoyed this show which will only go from strength to strength. Next show Cage Gladiators III- strength and honour December 3rd features the return from injury of Paul Cahoon, Terry Etim v Peter Irving and Danny Mann v Chris Freebourne title fights plus a full card of exciting North West fighters.
