April 29th at 5 Stars Tropical Hotel Gymnasium in Manaus, Amazonas - Brazil, like was pre-announced by Jungle FC promoter, Wallid Ismail, in an interview at maXFighting web site. The theme of the Jungle FC 6th would be the Forest's Gods. And the Jungle FC staff provided the fans with a opening-ceremony where they showed an exhibit of how the Forest's Gods of the Amazon punished the invaders of it- which had the intention of destroying the natural resources of the lung of the World (The Amazon Forest). This theme used this time evocated the Forest's Gods to give extra-strength to the local fighters against "the invaders" in the 9 matches scheduled for that night.
Soon in the first ladies bout of the JFC story, local Davina Maciel dispatched Japenese Kanako Inaba by TKO at R2. Davina was always better during the 2 rounds that the fight elapsed and if he had not lost positions when the fight hit the ground, she should finish Kanako until in R1. By a flurry of strikes on the feet, Davina drove Kanako to the canvas at 1:00 of R2.
Former UFC fighter Tony DeSouza nearly saw his second JFC appearance to be smashed by a right-straight that connected and sent him down by fists of SHOOTO Holland competitor Katel Kubis. The punch ate by Tony was heavy enough to knock anyone out, less Tony. Who in a mix of rage and technique got to avoid the combos of Kubis and to shoot in- placing the fight on the ground. But the fight returned to the feet and Tony got advantage of a high-kick from Kates which missed to get the fight grounded again. Tony worked quickly to pass the guard and to scramble over Kubis, who punched Tony on the body, while this was sinking a kneebar. Kubis resisted a little but screamed in pain in same moments that referee stopped the contest at 2:38 of R1.
Maybe if Fredson Paixao and Marcos Galvao had fought against other fighters, and not against each other in this case; the Forest's Gods could be evocated by one of them. But how a God can strengthen 2 local fighters?
The fight didn't please the card by the excess of caution of both fighters, Galvao shoot first, but was Paixao who took the fight down by a beautiful seoi (Judo's throw). They did not have many things to do on this round where Galvao was a little better at get the top position when the fight was grounded in two occasions.
In R2 Galvao used an illegal grab on the trunks to take the fight down, Paixao sunk a choke but they went out of the ring and the fight was re-started on the feet. Paixao landed a knee which missed and they fallen, with Galvao on the top. Until them in my score the R1 and R2 had been too much balanced, with a small (very-small) advantage to Galvao. In R3 Paixao knew he would only get the nod by a submission, a ko or a 10-8 score in the judges papers. So he walked ahead all the time, chasing Galvao, who kept his calm to control the impulse of Fredson until the end of the round. The judges gave the nod to Galvao by an unbelievable unanimous decision, showing once again that people in Brazil do not know much about the differences between a majority, split or unanimous decision. If this fight had occurred in events such as SHOOTO or DEEP, the majority draw(1-0 to Galvao) or the majority decision to Galvao would be scored, and this would be the correct judgement.
Meaningful victory conquered by the rinsing-star of Nova Uniao, the middleweight Talles Leites over Pride's veteran Jose Landy Johns. Fighter began with flying-knees in same time and Leites got to clinch and avoid the muay thai expert's knees on the clinch. Leites guided Landy-Johns down and "playing" got the mount position. Landy-Johns seemed to be lost on the ground, and when Leites sunk the already usual arm-triangle (of Nova Uniao fighters), Landy-Johns tried to use it to escape, but he only did the submission to be tightest and tap out in premature 2:40 of R1.
Co-Main event featured the tough Russian kickboxing specialist Aleksander Shemelenko against 5 times Absolute BJJ Mundials champion Ronaldo Souza.
Souza is a kind of BJJ God due to his recent awards, so he was close to the JFC's theme of Forest's Gods. The main worry of both fighters was to not give tools to the other one in the field where each other was better. I meant Shemelenko did not want to be on the ground and Souza on the feet.
For despair of Shemelenko, Souza brought the action to the ground quickly and Shemelenko refused himself of it by grabbing the ropes, referee slap his hands and he loosened. On the ground Shemelenko tried to escape from the ring. But referee stopped and put them on the center of the ring. So Souza worked his more than polished ground game and did Shemelenko sleep by arm-triangle in 2:10 of R1.
Main event featured K-1's fighter and former Inoki Office member LYOTO against up&comer Dimitri Wanderlei. Wanderlei has a modest resume of 1-1 at MMA, but his will-power and determination showed in his two prior fights qualified him to be the opponent of LYOTO on this main event Breathtakingly Wanderlei got to cut the left eye-brown of LYOTO during the first and frank trade of punches and kicks on the feet. They had an open exchange of blows on the feet and the courage of Wanderlei proved he has heart; the fight went to the ground and LYOTO from the top connected a few punches in Vanderlei's face- who got a cut on the left eyebrow too. The intense pace of trade of blow kept the same in R2, but LYOTO connected heavily, and with most technique than Wanderlei, the attacks of LYOTO hurt a lot the warrior Wanderlei.
R3 started with LYOTO insisting on the kicks at the body of Wanderlei, they exchanged more punches, but the effectiveness of it was in LYOTO's hands; mauling the bruise and tired Wanderlei- LYOTO only expected until referee Marcus Vinicius to declare TKO at 3:24 of R3.
