Introduction to the club:

Falcons Martial Arts which has now been running since 1990 is known as ' The Complete Unarmed Self Defence & Fighting System '. Involving the Kicking & Power of TaeKwon-Do - Punching, Pad Work, Fitness & Fighting Skills of Kickboxing - The Self Defence of Jujutsu & the Ground Fighting Skills of Sport Jujutsu. Offering no nonsense Self Defence for men, women & children.

At Falcons Martial Arts the student chooses what they want to do; only doing the things that suit them. Some students come to class just to get fit; others want to learn an effective way of defending themselves, some want to learn a Martial Art and gain rank and others want to compete. You decide what you want to do.

For children we teach basic Martial Arts skills along with an excellent and fun fitness routine, we also teach the art of Playground Self Defence, to help them deal with bullying. Along with that we teach exercises on how to deal with being hurt, simple First Aid and how to gain confidence.

The schools also offer an excellent fitness routine, the chance to gain rank in three different Martial Arts, the opportunity to do Mixed Martial Arts training, and for those who want to compete, the opportunity to take part in all types of competition from Light, Semi to Full Contact Fighting, Grappling & Submission Fighting to the Complete Fighting Challenge, 'Grapple & Strike'.

Heath Gait Heath Gait is an instructor and founding member of Falcons MMA.

Joseph Duffy – Joseph has been winning championships in all styles of martial arts since the age of six years old. Now seventeen years of age Joseph has competed at the Combat Sports Open Trials and is now competing at the Grapple & Strike in which he is currently leading the table in the welter weight division. He also won his amateur fight at Grapple & Strike IX by submission.

Richard Shore – Richard started off as a Jujutsu fighter but now has become a very strong stand up fighter as well. Richard has competed and won at grappling competitions and has competed successfully at the Combat Sports Open Trials and the Welsh Grapple & Strike League. Richard also made his semi pro debut at Grapple & Strike IX where he won by submission.

Darrell James – An excellent stand up fighters who hold ranks in karate, Kickboxing & Thai Boxing. Darrell has an excellent fight record at Kickboxing and has now turned his hand to Jujutsu & MMA. Darrell recently won his amateur fight at Grapple & Strike IX and is currently leading the table at the Welsh Grapple & Strike League in the middle weight division.

Shain Redman – Shain who has an excellent stand up game dominantly fights at grappling tournament. Shain is leading the division in the NJJC Grappling Championships and has competing in Brazilian Jujutsu competition. Shain will next be in action at the British Jujutsu Championships where he is favourite to win the grappling title.

Up and coming students

Huw Griffiths – Huw has only been training for a short amount of time but is already starting to make an impact in MMA competition. Huw currently holds second place in the light heavy weight division in the Welsh Grapple & Strike League which is a great achievement for the length of time he has been training.

We have many more up & coming fighters within the team at MMA, Jujutsu & Grappling, we also have a very good team of children fighters that win medals at semi & light contact fighting, they also bring home mountains of medals from grappling & jujutsu competitions. Typical Session/ Class Structure

We have so many different training routines it would be impossible to give a typical structure. Mainly though, during periods where there are no competitions we work on strength, technique and maintain a good level of fitness. As fights get closer we use less technique and work more on sparring and we increase the intensity of the cardio and stamina workouts.
