If there is one theme in my life that proves itself to be correct over and over again it is that there are two types of people.

Randy Couture's decision to come back and fight has caused quite the fuss. He's too old ! Tim's Too Big ! He doesn't deserve a title shot! He's doing it for the money!

He's too old.

My 85 year old Mother lives in a retirement home in Houston Texas. A little over a year ago I had the opportunity to spend an entire week there while she recuperated from a hip replacement. It was truly an incredible experience. The dignity and honesty from the different men and women that I had the pleasure of meeting and visiting with was truly life changing.

I spent a week spending time with men and women mostly ranging from 85-100. Time and time again I would meet a man or women whom I thought was an employee of this retirement home, and then find out they were residents. 100 year old men and women, driving their own vehicles, going for long morning walks, dancing or playing the piano. These men and women were honest about this stage of their life.

Mr. Thompson, a 95 year old retired small business man who was dressed like he was going to a board meeting every morning explained it to me best.

"Son If this is to be my last day on earth, I'm going to feel the wind on my face one last time and not wither away like a plant".

Randy Couture is 43 years old and he retired from this sport a year ago. He has not stopped training. He helped build this sport and continues to train with other fighters. One by one, go ask his training partners if he is too old. Find any practice room anywhere he has ever trained where he was not far and away the most dominant fighter in the room.

Two types of people I say. One will tell you he is too old, and another will tell you he can win this fight. Dan Henderson ( pound for pound best fighter in the world) and Mike Sloan ( writer with Sherdog)- who would you listen too ?

Tim's too Big.

Styles make Fights. Randy has a hard time with bigger fighters. Josh Barnett stopped him. Ricco Stopped Him, and Tim is bigger than both of them. Randy dominated the first two rounds against Josh and then got caught in a bad position.

Let’s not forget Josh was in fact busted for steroids- Did it make a difference? I'm not sure but it's worth mentioning. The best Ricco Rodriguez stopped Randy after Randy dominated the first two rounds. Both fights could have went the other way- they were both wars.

Hearns Vs Haggler was one of the best fights I have ever seen, it lasted less than 3 rounds. Ali never weighed more than 230 pounds in his prime.

Tim is probably training harder for this fight than for any other fight in his life. Some are already writing Randy's obituary.

Two types of People - and one of them does not think Randy is too small.

Randy does not deserve a title Shot.

How soon we forget. This sport has gone "nuts" over the last six years. Six years ago "Team Quest" was two wrestling mats in the back bay of a car dealership, now it is a world class training facility.

Six years ago this sport was barely allowed to be on pay per view, and now soon it will be on HBO and Showtime and its already on Fox and Spike TV. Lets not forget while this sport was growing and "blowing up" Randy fought in 11 Straight title fights winning belts in both the heavyweight and light heavyweight classes.

When The UFC and Tito went to war it was Randy that they called on to "Get Chuck over", only problem was somebody forgot to tell Randy he was not going win that fight. This sport is a big business now. Yesterday's bartender is today's world class trainer, yesterday's teacher is today's great fighter and yesterday's farmer is today's legend.

Two types of people- Dana White a man that took a million dollar company and turned it into a billion dollar company- or writers with a pay per view web site-one of those guys knows what they are doing.

He is doing it for the money.

This one I love. Randy Couture wrestled for free for over twenty years. Coached wrestling for peanuts for many years. He made $2000 his first fight in the UFC.

I'm a 40 year old former collegiate wrestler- I fought four times last year for free. Do you Know Why? Because nobody offered to pay me a million dollars.

Two types of people I say- Me, a guy that is never going make a dollar fighting- sweats out every mortgage payment or Randy- the two time, two division champion of the world. One of those guys deserves a million dollars to fight, and boy do I wish it was me.

I like this match up. I think Randy can win and I know its going to be competitive. It's going to be exciting and like all Randy fights, it's going to be good for the Sport.

I have owned several businesses in my life. One person will say I have failed many times, and another one will continue to encourage my next adventure. I encourage this adventure for Randy and find great inspiration in it. He is going to compete for the heavyweight championship of the world.

Two types of people I say. Randy Couture and the critics. One of these types of guys knows what they are talking about.
